My daughter, Sandra, has Down syndrome and turned 32 years old on December 8th. She had been in a care facility for years, but my dream was for her to one day live in a group home. She moved into The Arc Jacksonville’s St. Nicholas Group Home on June 1st, 2016. She is finally in a wonderful environment where she can thrive and grow.

In Sandra’s home, Beverly Gibbs is the manager and she and the other caretakers not only take wonderful care of her, but seem to really love her. That warms my heart. I am very glad she is in a home so beautiful and clean. I am thrilled she has her own bedroom for the first time.

Monday through Friday, Sandra goes to The Arc Jacksonville location on Wesconnett for activities. She and her roommates go out to dinner every Tuesday night. I’m thrilled The Arc has dances on Friday nights. Sandra loves going places, and she especially loves music.

For the first time, as her mother and legal guardian, I have total peace of mind that my daughter is well taken care of every day. Believe me; that means the world to me.

Sincerely,
Janice, Sandra’s Mother
